Spiritual Life & Inspirational website
Happy that you’ve found my website and welcome to Aegina island in Greece! Aegina, Aigina, Egina, Egine, Ägina is one of the Saronic islands, located 26 km (16 miles, 40 minutes) south of Athens. This magical island can easily be reached by a regular ferry, Aero or hydrofoil connection from Piraeus. Aegina has a very special energy and authentic beauty. Next to being an unspoiled vacation island, it’s transformational energy has made many people decide to relocate, even those that have traveled the world extensively. Aegina makes you feel at home.
In 1904, the now world famous miracle healer Agios Nektarios chose to move to Aegina; he transformed a desolated monastery into his home and place of worship. To this day, his monastery serves as a place of comfort and is one of the most visited sights on the island. Because of it’s special light, many artists have chosen Aegina as their base and inspiration for creativity. In current times, the island serves as a popular location for workshops, seminars & exhibitions.
Aegina might be the island where your spiritual journey starts. But … let me warn you, Aegina is not an island of departure, it’s an island of return! I am sure you are reading these words for a reason. You don’t find Aegina, AEGINA FINDS YOU, and it does so at the exact right moment.

Aegina Healing
Since ancient times the island has been connected with healing. According to Herodotus, Aegina was a colony of Epidauros. The city on the Peleponnese famous for its sacred centre and cult of healing, the Asclepieon. The Asklepiades, an ancient guild of doctors, were ministers of the god. Both Aristophanes and Pausanias mentioned in their writing that Aegina, like Epidauros, also had a temple of Asclepios dedicated to the god of medicine and healing.

Aegina, my home
I first visited Aegina in 1993 and returned several times before I followed my heart and relocated myself in 2002. I moved together with my dog and cat from the Netherlands to the island where I awakened, healed and started to live my soul’s passion. I am still very happy with the best decision I’ve ever made.
For those curious about my background and what brought me to Aegina: summer 2019, my life story got published in a best selling compilation book “Ignite your Female Leadership“. Click here to read my chapter “I am living by example”.
Since 2019, a lot has happened ….. could almost write another chapter 🙂

A spiritual life
“A spiritual life is not - repeat not - a mental, intellectual experience. It is a prayerful, contemplative, mystical, reflective journey that, in fact, draws you out of your mental world.Your mind is the last place you want to be as you contemplatethe nature of what is real in yourlife and what is of value.” Caroline Myss

The beaches of Aegina
Aegina has a big variety of beaches, you can find them all around the island. There are sandy beaches with and without beach bars, sunbeds and umbrellas, beaches with shallow water and beach sites where you can jump in deep waters. Beaches with sunbeds operate “normally” from around 15 May until 15 September. Don’t miss Moni, the little inhabited island which is located opposite Perdika and that can be reached by boat. The Temple of Aphaia
Awaken your inner goddes
The ancient Temple of Aphaia is a special place. It stands in a beautiful spot above the pine forests in the hills of Aegina, with fabulous views across the Saronic Gulf. You can wander among the bleached sandstones, and imagine yourself there 2500 years ago when the surviving temple was built, or among the first known worshippers another thousand years before that.
